Paddys' On The Move

Paddy's Place goes mobile!

Starting next Tuesday 5th July 2011 I will be at the Church Lane Community Centre on Church Lane in Prestwich, Manchester. I will be there most Tuesday mornings at a drop in class. This week we will be visiting the old technique using shaving foam to make backgrounds etc...  You will need to bring along an apron, papers, fabric etc and a basic crafting kit.  The cost is £2 for a drink and a slice of cake as these are drop in sessions and not classes. We start at 10am and go on until noon.

The Centre itself  is open from 9.30 until 12 noon, there are places to park very close and there is disabled access.  If anyone has any queries please email me as I haven't got my mobile sorted just yet.

I am taking a well deserved holiday for three weeks in August, during this time the Centre is still open and you will be welcome to attend the same sessions but there not be any structure as such it will be more of a social occasion.

Will be posting more information in the next few days and updating my Blog showing the new times and dates of workshops and drop in sessions available.  Really am hoping to see you all on Tuesdays to share our creativity and to enjoy the journey.

Bye for now, take care:-)

Art Boards for Port Sunlight

Another image from Carrie you've seen this one before from the 'Earth Spirit' plate by Elusive Images. I've finished the card off using Snow Sheer fabric, cut around the edge of the fabric and then heated it to get this fab ruffled edge.

A macro shot of the Snow Sheer fabric showing the ruffles.

Also from the 'Spirit' plate this is a thick embossing technique with mica powders over the top. Love the way this technique brings out the depth of the images. Used two of them from the stamp plate on this card, the tree tops of the larger plate was used to create the look of foliage. This looks much better in real life, the photograph doesn't really do it justice.

Well that's all for now. Please leave your comments as I do love to read them, don't be shy.

Bye for now, take care:-)

More Elements 2 Photos

Here is Helen with her metal class having fun.

One of the corner sections on our frames....... that butterfly worked well.

Fabric dryed and on to overlaying with more stamps and stencils. It was amazing how individual styes started to emerge at this point.

You may never see it again here I am with an iron in hand!  Contemplating Chris's work. Isn't it lovely.
I look a bit sad here maybe I was thinking of Neet. We missed our polymer clay artist who was taken into hospital Wed night. She sent her best wishes to all and I can tell you she was hoping to be discharged yesterday. Please note I was wearing beads Neet made for me a while ago. I love them they are made with Makins air drying clay.

I will leave you for now with this happy shot of Becca with Helen I hope you didn't get pudding on those works of progress you have over your arm Becca. I will try to post some photos of this amazing quilted coat Becca is making. Great lady all the way from dorset to share her expertise with us on Elements.

Keep watching I'll post some more photos soon it is hard to choose which ones to put up but how come I have no photo of Sylvia?  I know this textile artist is camera shy she has dodged me does anyone have any photos I can post please?

Bye for now, take care:-)

Elements 2 Fabrics

Elements Background Fabric Sample
This is one of the fabric background samples I have created for Elements 2, the final pieces will look very different its a bit like making background papers. Once they are layered, panelled worked on some more...........yummm!

More Fabric Samples
Now you can see one of the reasons my blog has been slow! These are just some of the background fabrics I have been working on to help with colour, stamp and stencil choice. We are using Stampendous jumbo rubber stamps they were an answer to my prayers, beautiful big designs! Stuart Gill new stencils and paints. More stamps etc.

Earth Spirit
Just a tryout using but she looks good I think. Stamp designed by Carrie-Ann Dennison; Carrie is a rubber carver and Glenda Waterworth (old Elusive Images.....new Chocolate Baroque) made up some of her designs in moulded rubber. I really love this one. This is stamped onto cotton fabric and burnt out with a pyrography tool............ok to do if you don't mind the smell and smoke!

Altered Buttons

Counting and packing buttons can be tedious so I stopped to have a play. The buttons in the centre are the originals. I have coloured the others with stazon you could use any solvent ink, alcohol inks, pens etc.

Some buttons are made up with separate pieces that come apart, just great for altering. These have three pieces, the smallest centre I have coloured with Stazon, the second piece I have coloured with a krylon pen the original colour was red or brown but I think they look like foreign coins when gold, last but not least is the photo frame actually a stamped Paper Artsy image with a clear glaze.

Romantic Spinoff

More layering and burning inspired by Sylvia's workshop.

Made from an A4 sheet of card with layers of net, lace and ribbon attached with a bonding web. Melted the back with a heat tool, gesso over the top with the embellishments added last. I'm not known for pretty artwork exactly but I was chuffed with these cards.......maybe I should include them in a workshop of my own.

This is just a close up came out different shade.
